Michael Jordan 2003: NBA Record 43pts at age 40 Video

There's no zone like Michael's. At age 40, MJ's zone was visited less frequently but still, when it happened, there was just nothing like it in the world. With his knee surgically repaired the year before, one only wonders what really might have happened even at this age had it not been for that knee. ESPN thought MJ could have still led the league in scoring if not for the injury and should that have been the case, the Wiz probably would have made the playoffs which would then have opened the door to anything possible.

In this game, MJ wanted to have a little statement for Richard Jefferson right before he retired. In truly MJ-like fashion, he once again summoned up a 60% shooting effort on call. With 7 straight FGs made in the 3rd quarter, MJ reversed Father Time and became the only player in history to break the 40 point barrier at age 40 and 4 days. With a barrage of silky perimeter shooting, MJ dominated from the outside with fades, step-back jumpers and in-your-face shots against Martin, Kidd, Jefferson and whoever.

Which begs the question. If the Wizards had been contenders, would we have seen more efforts like these at age 40? Most likely and more. But regardless, this performance remains unchartered territory for anyone in history and may stand as one of his most unbreakable records.

What year is? it!
What year is? it!

For me Rick Barry ...
For me Rick Barry and Golden St. had quite possibly the least amount of support to win a championship. You're right about the Bulls, considering they were a dynasty of 2 eras of different rosters. Rodman? was a huge factor the 2ndpeat. Duncan had a very deep bench imo. Twin tower vet Robinson, Avery, Elliott, Ellie, Malik, Antonio. Role player vets like Kerr, Willis. Later, Parker, Jackson, Bowen, Steve Smith. Then, Ginobli, Horry. Then vet Finley in 07. I always think of A.I.'s weak cast in 01..

Like i said it's ...
Like i said it's all fact....Calling someone THE G.O.A.T. says it all...That means i gave him the? maximum credit any person can have at anything. There is absolutly no discredit whatsoever. To actually add to MJ's credit he did it with probably the least amount of Hall of Fame support..aside from maybe Tim Duncan.

We're in accordance ...
We're in accordance for the most part. Your insinuation is, "in Kobe's defense though you? left out one thing... Jordan = 6 rings with HOF and Top 50 GPOAT...Scottie Pippen." -- This discredits MJ so the point I made very clearly is that all championship dynasties have Hall of Fame rosters, some even deeper than MJ and Pipp. Jabbar and Magic are top 5 players of all-time. Kobe's 1st 3 rings were w/ SHAQ a top10 GOAT and most dominant during that whole 3peat.. There is no defense to be made.

Ok you say it ...
Ok you say it defeats the point to insinuate MJ wasn't as great as he was....My question is this...When did i insinuate that? Look at my last comment above this one...It clearly says MJ? is The GOAT. What else is higher or greater than that? How else can i make him better than GOAT?? Everything i said was fact...Scottie Pippen is in The Hall of Fame and did that with Michael Jordan on his team...How many guys would have had a Hall of Fame career with MJ on the same team? I'll let you tell it.

Damn. Jordan and ...
Damn. Jordan and Kobe have such a similar game it's rediculous... Both jab, pump fake, and hit? those baby jumpers. Beautiful.

Scottie is one of ...
Scottie is one of my favs and is underrated, but he doesn't crack the top 15. Teams win championships, NOT individuals. So it defeats the point to insinuate MJ wasn't as great as he was. All teams have HOF help, people just try to slight MJ. Russell had Cousy, Havlicek, Jones.. Bird had McHale, Perish.. Magic, Kareem, Worthy.. West, Chamberlain, Baylor.. Kareem and Oscar.. Moses and Dr J..? Hayes and Unseld.. Frazier, Reed, Monroe, Lucas.. Shaq, Kobe, Horry.. Olajuwan, Drexler, etc. etc.

Scottie is top 15 ...
Scottie is top 15 all time? at least.

Did you not see the ...
Did you not see the words Hall of Famer...and one of the top 50 greatest players all time....Did you forget Scottie took the bulls to the playoffs by himself as the #1...won the All Star game MVP when Jordan was gone...All that showed Scottie was a legend himself. A HALL OF FAMER MAN SIMPLE AS THAT...MJ is THE GOAT but had Hall of Fame assistance...you couldn't be blessed with more as a basketball player than to have your partner be? HOF caliber as well.

This Nets team made ...
This Nets team made it to the finals that? year. They weren't a bottom-feeder team by any means.

Shaq is arguably a ...
Shaq is arguably a top 10 great of all-time, so I don't know what's the point of mentioning Pippen. All teams have support. Magic and Kareem are top 5 players of all time who played together.. It all depends on? what role you played. Shaq was "the man" on the 3peat. Pippen was the Bull's second option. Jordan played second-fiddle to no one.

Kobe want rape you? ...
Kobe want rape you? kid!hahaha!

43 at age 40...When ...
43 at age 40...When the league was? still kinda tough.

Kobe is really good ...
Kobe is really good...but he can't touch Jordan....in Kobe's defense though you left out one thing... Jordan =? 6 rings with Hall of Famer and Top 50 Greatest Players of All-Time... Scottie Pippen.

I? don't know what ...
I? don't know what all the hate against Kobe is all about. Although Kobe had Shaq, Pau, Odom and Bynum, I think a lot of people are forgetting about the timeframe between 2004-2007. If I can remember correctly, Kobe was in a s**t team himself; Kwame Brown, Smush Parker, Luke Walton, almost that entire team was crap. He had to carry that damn team, and they still made the playoffs. And before anyone says anything to me about M.J, just know that he's my favorite player of all time.

This was when Jason ...
This was when Jason Kidd was in his prime. The New Jersey Nets went to the NBA Finals that year.? For MJ to do that at age 40?! G.O.A.T

"what year is it?! ...
"what year is it?!"? lol

Kobe is a top 10 ...
Kobe is a top 10 all time thats? a fact.

Did kobe rape ...
Did kobe rape esteban"s mom or something,? why is he so butthurt?

Just? pure hate for ...
Just? pure hate for Kobe huh?
